TRAINEE  TESTIMONIALS

Quotes from Trainees who sailed in the North West Europe Tall Ships races from Bermuda, this last summer:

William Halliday  sailed on the Christian Raddich, a Norwegian training ship,  this summer from Bergen to Den Helder.  “Perhaps next year, on the 400th anniversary of Sir George Somers'  setting foot here in Bermuda, we can all feel the same connection as a family that I felt on the ship, no matter our origin, and remember how our ancestors overcame the hardships of their voyage to reach our beautiful island.  This is an experience I will never forget, and I hope that many more choose to undertake such a voyage.”

Matthew Hollis sailed on De Gallant, a Dutch sail training ship, this summer from Maloy to Bergen. “Two months ago I had never been to Europe, never sailed on a Tall Ship, never eaten warm buttered bread covered in chocolate sprinkles for breakfast.   As it turns out, this is a Dutch delicacy.  For me, the 2008 Tall Ships Race was truly a voyage of discovery.   I have no reservations when I claim that it was by far the most fun I have ever had in my life, and I will recommend the experience to anyone.”

Benjamin Hollis sailed on Lotus, a sail training ship  from the Netherlands, from Maloy to Bergen.  "It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I can say now, in no uncertain terms, that it was one of the greatest and most rewarding things I have ever done.  The scenery was magnificent, particularly sailing amongst the fjords, flanked by beautiful fully-rigged sailing ships."
